Signs your Girlfriend Might be Using You. Being in a relationship can be great, especially when it’s with someone who makes you feel secure and loved.
However, when you notice your girlfriend doing any of the following nine things, it might be time to (leave her) reevaluate your situation she might just be using you!
So pay attention to her actions and reactions as well as your gut feelings; they will let you know if something isn’t right with your relationship.
Spending Your Money
If your girlfriend is spending more money than she earns and doesn’t have a job, you may be facing a situation where you’re helping her financially.
If that’s happening, it could be a good thing but it also might not be. She could be spending too much money on things she doesn’t need and has little or no intention of paying you back.
And if that happens, what do you do? Well, first off, don’t ignore your gut feeling about it because chances are good that something isn’t right.
But if after talking with her about your concerns, there’s still an issue, then maybe it’s time to end things so at least you won’t find yourself in debt over a relationship that isn’t working out. There’s always a chance that you’re wrong and your suspicions aren’t true.
Buying Stupid Things
If your girlfriend just came home from shopping with a new outfit or bag and says she got it on sale, but you know she couldn’t afford it before, there’s a good chance she’s spending money on herself with your cash.
While gift-giving is normal in a relationship, if you find that your money is going towards things she wants but can afford on her own, it may be a red flag. She could be using you for access to more funds.
This also includes asking you for things (like paying for something) instead of helping herself from her own earnings if her purse is overflowing, but she still asks for cash from yours regularly.
She NEVER Pick’s up the tab when you go out
Are you always picking up her bills when you go out together? If so, then she might be using you. Remember that when two people go out together, they should split expenses 50/50.
If she’s constantly paying for everything (and it’s especially true if she makes more money than you), then that might be a sign of her intentions. Do something about it by paying for half of every date and seeing how she reacts.
If she pitches a fit or questions your motives, then do yourself a favor and run away as fast as possible there are better fish in the sea! Another thing to watch out for is if your date nights consist solely of one person spending lots of money on outings or gifts.
Taking other people’s sides In arguments
If you notice your girlfriend repeatedly taking her sister’s side in arguments and defending her behaviors instead of you, there’s a chance she might be using you.
Many abusers will form relationships with people who are easily manipulated and controlled. Sometimes, those people will be family members or friends, which is why it’s important to speak up if you feel that your girlfriend might be a little too close with her family.
Asking questions about how much time she spends with them or whether they tend to disagree a lot can help give you insight into whether there could be something else going on behind closed doors. While no one wants their significant other growing apart from their family, it should never come at your expense.
Sacrificing yourself to please her
If you’re always making a conscious effort to keep her happy and constantly doing favors for her, she may be using you. It’s important that you place yourself and your needs in a relationship before anyone else.
Always remember that it takes two people to make things work out so don’t let someone use your generosity against you by taking advantage of your good nature.
As long as you’re doing what makes you happy, then it doesn’t matter if she is happy or not. She will come around eventually or realize that she has lost a great guy because of her own manipulation tactics.
Allowing her to use you (easy give away)
Although it’s noble to do things for your significant other without expecting anything in return, there are plenty of ways that someone can take advantage of you without you realizing it.
It could be as obvious as a friend who relies on you to give her rides, but still flirts with other guys while she’s with you.
But it could also be something that seems more innocent, like when a girl uses your money or let you buy her dinner out several times per week and refuses to chip in for herself.
In either case, if one person is using their relationship status for freebies, then that’s something worth re-evaluating, especially if both people aren’t fully aware of what’s going on.
She uses you as an ATM machine
If your bank account is always lower than you think it should be and her credit card bills are always higher than you expect, then there might be something going on. The easiest way to stop her from using you as an ATM machine is to first ask yourself why she would want access to your account in the first place.
She could just be overly attached or overprotective of you, but it’s also possible that she feels like she has a right to spend money as if it were hers because you two are together.
Whatever her reasoning, if she won’t listen to reason about how much money goes into and out of your accounts, then something else might be going on with her.
