Melbourne’s nightlife is unique when compared to other cities in Australia, I’d say that the best strategy is to be mobile and have several venues in mind when going out.
Perhaps a good old pub run every weekend would be the best strategy as Melbourne doesn’t have just one ”go to” nightclub where everyone is. It’s more of a multitude of little bars and clubs down little alleyways and in basements.
So, I’d argue that bouncing from venue to venue is the best strategy.
Which are the best nightclubs in Melbourne is quite a subjective topic that depends on who you are and what you are looking for. If you happen to be a red blooded male that’s looking for the best clubs in Melbourne to meet girls, then you are in the right place.
Below I’ve compiled a huge list of nightclubs, bars, pubs etc that should give you the most comprehensive list of places to meet single girls.
Below is a list of the most well known bars, clubs and nightclubs in Melbourne at the moment.

Chasers Nightclub nightclub
Chasers nightclub is one of the largest nightclubs in Melbourne. They call themselves a bespoke super club with ”poof doof” whatever that means. From my research, this seems to be the best place to start your night out.
Revolver Upstairs nightclub
Friday night is apparently the night of the week to hit Revolver upstairs, as they have DJ’s on a regular basis with an alternative vibe.
This club starts early on Saturdays, which might be a good way to start a big night out. They serve Thai food from ”Colonel Tan’s Thai Kitchen” which I’ve been told is more pricey than simply hitting a random Thai restaurant down the street but you are paying for the convenience I guess.
The Night Cat nightclub
The night cat is known for having jazz, funk, pop artists on a regular basis. Mostly 80’s music with live bands and singers. Nightclubs in Melbourne are very unique, you cannot find clubs like this anywhere else in Australia
Sub Club Melbourne nightclub
The music here is mostly electro, techno. Pretty much the ”doof doof” vibe here. The sub club is an underground basement nightclub.
I love the way this clubs management thinks, they call it ”all-inclusive clubbing” which means that they have ”No table service. No Birthday lists”. If you want to play the status game by buying a table in order to feel more important than everyone else, then this is not the place for you.
The Lame Duck nightclub
”Dive bar, pool, disco” is the heading. They are going for a 70’s vibe here and the owners clearly have a sense of humour by pitching that you can get ”ducked up” here. A few pinball machines with the décor will make you feel like you’ve transported back to a 70’s movie
Brown Alley nightclub
This is by the look of their past events one spot to go for R&B amongst a range of other types of music. It’s less of a nightclub then a venue for music events. Either way it’s worth noting as it’s large and should have enough flow for you to possibly stay there for an entire night out.
