PUA social freedom exercises were for guys who have social anxiety, social freedom drills are public displays, designed to draw attention from the general public to the person doing them.
The idea is that the person will acclimatise to the judgement from the general public and it will help them to overcome their social anxiety through the realisation that judgement from the general public won’t hurt them.
Once they have overcome their social anxiety, immediately afterwards, they should have the ability to cold approach girls in a more relaxed state of mind.
Why PickUp Coaches Teach Social Freedom Exercises
If they have a student who has difficulty getting the courage up to speak to a girl, most (amature) coaches will get their students to do social freedom exercises in order to break the student out of their anxiety. The theory is that the student will have the ability to approach after doing these exercises.
Social Freedom Exercises List
- Laying on the footpath while people walk past judging them
- Saying hello to strangers in a weird way
- Making loud noises to attract attention to themselves
- Doing a multitude of other random things designed to get the general public to judge them
Getting Out of Your Head
I personally don’t believe in ”approach anxiety” I just refuse to believe that it’s a real thing. Some men struggle with cold approach pick up because they are given the wrong strategies to do cold approach, not because they have anxiety, in my opinion.
From my experience, the guys that I coach, they never really have a problem with approaching women, maybe just because their coach (myself) doesn’t believe it exists. Keep in mind, social anxiety is entirely in one’s head.
How To Spot a Bad Pickup Coach
Over the years I’ve never heard of a cold approach pick up company that uses social freedom exercises lasting very long. In the beginning they tend to think that they’re helping their students get out of their heads and approach but in reality they’re just making a fool of themselves and their clients.
Social Freedom is Short Term Motivation
This is a strategy many motivation public speakers use, they hype up the crowd and make them feel in the moment that they are going to change their lives.
But in reality the motivation is only a short term feeling and only a week later, they are back to their old selves. Motivation doesn’t last, only methods and strategies last and these ”social freedom” coaches seem to only be interested in pumping up their clients motivation and letting them go afterwards without teaching proper methods.
