To start with, online dating has a very low barrier to entry, which means that anyone can start up a new account, upload a few photos, then start chatting with girls.
When a girl texts a guy on one of these platforms, he has ample time to devise the perfect response that will make him look good in her eyes.
This means that online dating is by default, a place where guys can be anyone they want, whether it’s true or not. Just like game theory, all it takes is one person to start exploiting the system, to incentivize everyone else to begin ”gaming” the system for personal gain (more matches).
Girls who use online dating also have more access to higher quality guys that they most probably wouldn’t have access to otherwise.
This means that the Pareto’s law comes into play (80-20 principle), this basically means that the top 20% of high-quality men have access to almost every girl in a particular area. Obviously, this means that you are going to be competing with the highest quality men, who are more likely to get all the dates.
Online dating is purely about judging a guys appearance in the sexual market place. When men should not be judged purely on their appearance, men have far more to offer than just looks, so in a way, online dating pathologizes the dating market to being nothing more than a meat market.
Confidence and Charisma is Useless in Online Dating
Let’s just say you are a charismatic guy, you might find yourself competing with weird good looking guys who can pretend to be charismatic, via their fake profiles.
Also, a confident man is disadvantaged with online dating because he cannot properly display his confidence to women through an online dating profile.
There are countless reasons why online dating is not only pathological but also bad for society as a whole.
Why Online Dating Is a Bad Idea? For decades, online dating has been available in a variety of formats. It all started with bulletin boards, then came dating websites, and now there are dating applications.
Internet dating has long since left its original stigma and is now the most common method of bringing together romantic partner partners.
Despite this, internet dating is a complete waste of time. Everyone can find what they are looking for, regardless of their background or what they are searching for.
It places a heavy emphasis on looks, making it difficult to start new discussions, and making it simple to get ghosted. Online dating is difficult for both men and women.
Online dating is a bad idea for the following reasons.
The Practice Of “Ghosting” Is Common in Online Dating
The new phrase “ghosting” refers to the act of abruptly ceasing all communication with a person without giving any reason. Ghosting is all too typical when it comes to internet dating.
If you’ve been ghosted, it’s because the other person is afraid to confess, they don’t want to continue the relationship, whether it’s during a discussion or after a date. The longer time that passes, the more severe the consequences will be.
You’re At Risk of Being Scammed With Online Dating
You should be careful of and on the lookout for scammers while using online dating services. Online scams may affect everyone, but the elderly is more at risk and more valuable prey.
Online dating is not secure from fraudsters, regardless of how quickly they start a conversation by inviting you to visit a dubious website or how patiently they go about trying to get money out of you.
As a friend or coworker, it would be tricky for you to depart and not contact or see them again abruptly. Online dating has made it relatively easy to do just that, leaving the ghosted person feeling wounded and bewildered.
People Lie to Make Themselves Sound Better Online Dating
Falsehoods abound everywhere on the internet, including online dating. However, the level of dishonesty might vary considerably.
Catfishing, for example, occurs when someone pretends to be someone else to scam you. It might also be more subtle, such as appearing your age or having similar hobbies to your own.
Because everyone wants to promote themselves in the most favorable light possible, they’ll utilize images that don’t reflect who they are in real life. This isn’t a falsehood, but you should proceed with caution.
Online Dating Is A Big Time Investment
Start a dating app, go through some profiles, and get on with your life. That’s what it can seem like. As time goes on, you’ll find yourself juggling many games and the accompanying chats.
A lot of time may be wasted if you do well and like this, but it’s not worth it because only a tiny percentage of those matches and chats will lead to anything more. Internet dating may be more time-consuming than going on actual dates.
There Are Higher Expectations With Online Dating
Online dating might be convenient for some people to find brief flings. Others are searching for love. Perhaps you know exactly what type of girl you desire in a long term partner, you can go with that choice, but it isn’t easy to understand what someone else wants unless they’re open and honest about it.
This can also true when it comes to offline dating, but the issue is more prominent when it comes to the fast and throwaway nature of online dating.
