Some people say that lying on their dating profiles is a bad thing, perhaps it’s immoral, who knows for sure. But if you show a little compassion for those online who are not getting any matches or love, perhaps you’ll understand why they do it.
Recently I went on a holiday to Thailand and 90% of my matches were men pretending to be women (ladyboys) this in fact made me quite angry, but after thinking about it, these guys just wanted to match with men but didn’t know how to game the system in a fair way, so I get it.
Myself, I’ve lied about my age and my location in order to get matches with higher quality women, sure this could be seen as immoral too, but you gotta understand that online dating has changed and we are moving into a period when almost everyone is trying to game the system, the algorithm, etc.
Some Common Lies People Use in Their Online Dating Profiles Are:
Lies About Their Age on Dating Profiles
Many individuals pretend to be 49, although they are much older. Both males and females are flat out lying about their age.
The research found that people round down by five years because they want to appear in more search results. However, telling a falsehood is not a good idea in the long run.
Most of the time, this is due to a desire to date someone their age. Fortunately, their profile images may be able to tell you if they’re telling the truth or not. Sadly, they may also use fake photos to accompany their false age.
Lies About Their Body Type on Dating Profiles
People are asked about their physique type on dating websites, and this is another place where they lie. Men are more likely to describe their physiques as athletic and toned.
The issue is that the average on the website typically signifies being obese! Lying about one’s appearance is a common dating tactic. The most common reason is insecurity for this is a lack of self-assurance.
When it comes to online dating, some people believe that lying about one’s appearance is a good way to increase one’s chances of finding love. Others believe that excluding parts of themselves from photographs will make them appear more attractive.
Lies About Their Location on Dating Profiles
One of three things that motivate people to falsify information about their location are as follows:
- They try to entice you by implying that they are nearby by appearing as though they are.
- They wish to keep their online dating activities a secret from their loved ones and neighbors by hiding their true location.
- Because the number of available singles in their immediate neighborhood is so small, they want to meet new people.
Lies About Availability on Dating Profiles
You’ve had a good online dating discussion and believe you and your match are a perfect fit, so you decide to meet up.
It was supposed to be a super romantic dinner date, but the day before your date, your match informed you of a job issue, an illness, or the need to care for a family member. Despite their kind attitude, they want to cancel the scheduled meetup.
One of the most popular dating sites lies is the availability lie, and you’ve almost likely fallen victim to it. It’s a common tactic used by cheaters to avoid commitment. As a last trick, many people tell this story before they entirely break off all contact with you.
Ask a dater what they enjoy doing near their house, such as where they prefer to dine, work out, or have fun with their friends, to verify that their location is accurate. They’re lying if their replies don’t match the location (or if their story changes).
Lies About Work/Financial Situation on Dating Profiles
Even amid a recession, people recognize that money speaks. In other words, some online daters would tell a lie about their financial situation to attract a potential partner over the internet.
They’ll provide an exaggerated description of their position or pay. Do a background check by asking them about their favorite aspects of their profession or the projects they’re most proud of.
Men believed that lying about one’s income or employment was more acceptable than lying about any other aspect of one’s identity. Because they realize how essential this is to women, they do this.
